About The 2017 Mathletics Showdown Challenge Matthew Nguyen
October 30th – November 12th, 2017
The Math Showdown is a fun, FREE online math competition contested by schools from The United States and Canada. The competition runs for two weeks, October 30th-November 12th, 2017.
The Math Showdown Challenge is open to students from Kindergarten to grade 10, with engaging activities appropriate for all grade levels. The event will see students compete in live, multi-player challenges plus answer self-paced adaptive curriculum questions, all using the award winning Mathletics platform.
There will be two grand prizes awarded to one currently subscribed Mathletics school and one non-subscribed Mathletics school. Both grand prize winners will have the highest average of participation points amongst their respective schools!
This competition is open to all U.S. and Canadian based schools, whether the school has a Mathletics subscription or not. Students with a home subscription are not eligible for this event. Current Mathletics schools may add additional students for free for the duration of the competition. Schools must be registered for the competition to be eligible for prizes.
Winners will be determined by the highest average of total participation points in a school. This will be calculated by taking the total number of participation points divided by the total number of registered students in the school.
To allow fair competition between schools of different sizes, class points are calculated on an “average points per student” basis. For example, a school of 500 students scores a total of 1,000,000 points during the competition. Their league table ranking would be based on an average of 2,000 points per student.
Once the 2017 Math Showdown event has ended, all results will be verified by the Mathletics team. Upon completion of verification, the winners will be announced on the Mathletics blog and on the 2017 Mathletics Showdown website. All results as determined by the Mathletics team are final.
