Rich learning tasks from Mathletics. Richer, deeper, better.
We believe students learn better by doing and our Rich Learning Tasks are a great example of this. Created in partnership with leading educators such as Dr. Marian Small, these math activities provide both teachers and students with an interactive, open-ended and deeply engaging learning experience.
The winning school can choose one of the following three PD sessions with Dr. Marian Small:
Using Rich Tasks in K- 6 math: What makes a math task rich? How do you create rich math tasks? Where do you find them?
Differentiating Instruction in K – 6 math: In every classroom in Canada, children are operating at different levels. How does a teacher meet all of these varied needs in a practical way in math? We’ll look at strategies that have proven to be successful.
Asking Better Questions in K – 6 math: The key to good teaching in math is posing the right questions not only for the tasks to be completed, but also to help scaffold students who need help and during discussion of student ideas about the task. We will look at examples and strategies to accomplish this.
